Grand Avenue, with over 15 years in the northwest music scene, delivers high-energy performances of classic rock hits from the 70s and 80s. The band’s groove comes from original members Jon St. Pierre (guitar, vocals), Tom Richardson (bass), and Doug Heyamoto (keyboard, guitar, vocals), along with recent additions Rob Taylor (vocals, 2023) and Michael O’Malley (drums, 2024). After the departure of their female singer, Heidi Beadle now brings fresh energy with her dynamic vocals. Grand Avenue has headlined festivals like Pig Out in the Park and Spokane Valleyfest, and performs at local events, delivering iconic guitar leads and rhythms that get audiences dancing to nostalgic tunes.

Introducing your performers
Rob Taylor - Vocals
Music has always been a part of my life, from sitting in the back of a Chevy Blazer while my aunt and uncle played gigs to joining the school band and eventually picking up the bass. After playing in bands like Stone Blue, Jr.'s Mad, and Stratland I’m now rocking full-time with Grand Avenue. It’s been an amazing journey, and I wouldn’t trade any of it. Do you have a favorite moment from all those years of playing in different bands?
Heidi Beadle - Vocals
Music and singing have always been my way of processing emotions. As a child, I’d wear turtlenecks as "long hair" and use a spoon as a microphone, putting on concerts for an audience of none—it didn’t matter; I was lost in the music. Over the years, music has been my constant companion. I've had the chance to sing in talent shows, choirs, pageants, and lead worship in various churches. I’m honored to join this talented band, united by the power of music to bring people together.
Jon St Pierre - Guitar
My journey through music has been a mix of exploration and fun. Growing up in the 80s, I was deeply influenced by the vibrant sounds of the era—new wave, rock, and pop. The synth-heavy melodies and electric guitar riffs from that time have always shaped my musical tastes. I've spent countless hours experimenting with sound, creating my own tracks that blend 80s nostalgia with my own spin. For me, music has always been about capturing the energy and spirit of that unforgettable decade while exploring my own creative voice.
Tom Richardson - Bass
I fell for a beautiful Hernandez classical guitar, but she was out of my reach as a part-time student. So, I learned to build guitars from Mr. Overholtzer at the library. Later, a Guild twelve-string caught my eye, and I won it with a $2 bet, which led to my first band, Doc Severed and the Cardiac Arrests. In 2006, when my band needed a bassist, I crafted one using wood from a cherry tree and reclaimed walnut, with modern electronics to finish it off. Problem solved!
Doug Heyamoto - Keys & Guitar
I started playing piano at 8, studying classical and pop music until I was 15. I then taught myself guitar and drums, playing in my first band, The Castlemen. I also played electric keyboard for 13 years in Ferris High's Ham on Regal Band and other cover bands. My music career was shaped by my mother, my piano instructor Lillian Nygreen, and musicians like Deems Tsutakawa and Vince Guaraldi. I enjoy artists like Chicago, Manhattan Transfer, Alison Krauss, and composer Claude Debussy. Music is my remedy for life’s challenges, bringing me joy and comfort.
Michael O'Malley - Drums
Music has always been in my family. In the early '70s, I’d listen to my cousins’ band play classics like "Heard It Through the Grapevine" and knew I’d be doing that someday. I started playing drums in 7th grade, later joining the school band and playing percussion in high school. After a break, I joined my church’s worship group 20 years ago. That led to playing in the classic rock band "Deadload" with Doug Heyamoto, performing '60s-'90s hits at conferences. Over the years, I played with Jon and Rob a few times. When Grand Avenue asked me to join, I knew it’d be an amazing experience—and it has been!
